Today we’re starting a new series that I’d like to call statement pieces! In these posts we’re going to go over items that you can incorporate in order to guarantee that you will be the talk of the room. That can be anything from head-wear, to jackets, to shoes, to belts! I’m excited to share what I have in store, so enough chit chat, let’s discuss statement pieces for men!
Before we begin, I need to mention that by now, you all should be in the middle of building your fall and winter foundation. If not, and I would be deeply disappointed if that is the case, then you must click this link and this link to see where to begin! But if you have started, then we can begin to focus on other aspects of your wardrobe and that is statement pieces for men. Look, everybody has certain clothing that they save for special occasions. Statement pieces can be that, but they can also be an item that you wear regularly. Statement pieces allow you to immediately stand out from the crowd. That is its purpose. Today we’re going to talk about one of my favorite statement pieces that I own and how I like to style it.
Today’s subject is going to be this insane puffer jacket that I was able to pick up, on sale, from Forever 21! If it’s not obvious why this is clearly a statement piece, it’s because the entire outer portion of the jacket is covered in a reflective material! This jacket literally shines in the dark! I love how it brings this space-age aesthetic to my outfit! Every time that I wear it, I feel as if I should be landing on the moon! The jacket itself is covered in a grey and silver camouflage print; so that in itself draws a lot of attention because it’s such a large garment, but then the reflective shine from the light just takes it way over the top!
This particular item falls into the “annual” window of wear, due to the thick nature of the jacket. If it looks hot inside, that’s because it is. This jacket is meant to absolutely go to battle against the cold elements. The smallest amount of light can set it off. Cars who are driving at night will have extra reflectors for keeping them inside the lanes. The jacket is designed to be a tad bit over-sized. This attracts more eyes to its puffed up, bright look. All in all, it’s a very obnoxious clothing item in a good way. The post’s purpose is to let you guys feel comfortable in making a purchase that may be a little loud or come off as a bit flamboyant. Also, since it grabs so much attention, it makes the rest of the outfit a piece of cake so, win-win.
