Basic Fall/Winter Style Ideas That Anyone Can Pull Off!! Cont.

We’re going to pick up right where we left off on our last post by going over some more basic fall/winter style ideas that anyone can pull off!! Let’s dive right into it!

1) A suit with a t-shirt!

I figured that we should start things off with the lightest and warmest outfit of the bunch. Because suits are worn year round, I think people tend to forget that a suit is still a long sleeve jacket and pant outfit. For the sunny part of the day, when things can still be warm, I think this is a very nice way to dress down a suit while still keeping things stylish. Don’t overthink things either. Keep it simple and you’ll be shocked by how well the ensemble comes together. Read ahead for more basic fall/winter style ideas that anyone can pull off.

Like I stated earlier, simple is always best when it comes to this look. I have on a white t-shirt underneath a navy suit from H&M, tucked in and a pair of champagne colored Puma Clydes. If you’re going to go the sneaker rout, I suggest a very simple and plain choice of casual sneakers. Try to stay away from basketball sneakers, athletic trainers or anything too loud. This look calls for minimal pieces because less is always more.

2) A suit with a hoodie!

Ok now we can begin to spice things up a bit! With a t-shirt I do think that simple is best for a suit, but with a hoodie I do believe that you can start to experiment with graphic designs. Since the hood already adds some flare to the outfit, you can take things a step further by adding some personality via a design. Once again this is a stylish way to dress down a suit, but it’s also a pretty unconventional way of doing it. Not too many guys are pairing a hoodie with a suit. In my opinion a pullover hoodie should always be the style that is selected as opposed to a zip up hoodie. A zip up adds a distracting break in between (and not in a stylish way) and should just be left in the closet.

When pairing a suit with a hoodie, now would be the time to experiment with some colors. Since most suit options are muted colors such as your greys, your blues and your blacks; adding a pop of color can really brighten things up. In this example I chose to wear a pink hoodie, with the same H&M navy suit and my champagne Pumas. I think the champagne and pink mesh well and the navy is kind of a blank canvas that can go with pretty much anything. Suits with hoodies are also an excellent way to practice your layering and to get creative.

3) A suit with a turtleneck sweater!

So I will admit that I haven’t always been hip to just how flawless a suit and turtleneck combo can be; but man am I glad that I eventually noticed! A strong argument can be made that a turtleneck sweater with a suit looks just as good if not better than a suit with a shirt and tie. Yes I went there. I am head over heels in love with this look. Simply put, it screams sophistication with a tiny bit of mystery thrown in. There’s a reason why it’s a staple in James Bond’s wardrobe. And the best part is is that it’s functional! Once again, a suit jacket is a long sleeve garment, and layered with a turtleneck sweater that both insulates heat and covers your neck will help ensure warmth.

The beauty about a turtleneck is that they come in a variety of forms. You have the more traditional roll top sweaters that have adjustable heights; but in my case I’m wearing a knitted sweater with a 4 button neck. Couple this look with a pair of double monk shoes from Aldo and you’ve got yourself an absolute winner. Throw in a wide brim fedora if you really want to win the award for best dressed. Once again, the suit is from H&M and the sweater is from Old Navy.

4) Bomber Jacket!

Ok this one is about as straight forward as things can get. As I stated in the last post, I want you to think of a bomber jacket as an elevated zip up hoodie. They tend to come in a wider variety of materials and more often than not you will find that a bomber jacket is slightly cropped. That is the case with this particular one. The reason for cropping is to help show off the shirt underneath and helps with sitting your hands comfortable in the jacket pockets. Bomber jackets are perfect for the fall and winter and start off at very reasonable prices. Like in my last post I will provide a link to a site that carries a similar piece so that you guys have no excuse to pick one up!

In this example I chose to go with the murdered out look of all black. Great color choice for the colder temperatures as it helps to retain heat, while the pops of orange, red and gold attract the eyes for a quick second. The hat is a semi leather strap back Yankees hat from Pro Standard, the bomber is from Alpha Industries, the jeans from H&M and the boots from my favorite boot company in the world, Thursday Boots (I would love to work out some kind of partnership in the future…..just sayin’).

5) A leather jacket!

The almighty leather jacket. One of the constant pieces of clothing that’s withstood the test of time decade after decade, era after era, trend after trend. The leather jacket can essentially get boiled down to two styles; the moto style with wide lapels or the button collar. Either one is fine in my opinion. Both options provide that instant bad boy / bad ass look that will surely turn heads. I personally believe that the purchaser should invest in a high quality leather jacket as it will last a lifetime and it’s better suited for insulation to keep you warm.

In my example, I’m keeping the murdered out all black look by just swapping out the bomber jacket for the leather jacket from Express and the leather strap back for a beanie from Stussy. Keep the same Thursday Boots Commanders with black H&M jeans and you have yet another simple and perfect option.

5) Leather jacket with a turtleneck!

Come on admit it, you knew that this had to be coming. Based on the trend that we’ve been following so far by utilizing the outer layers in multiple fashions (pun intended) I had to show off the versatility of a turtleneck. Think of this look as rugged meets class, rock and orchestral music combining to create a beautiful piece that’s definitely in a unique class of it’s own. Seriously. Leather jacket and turtlenecks is something that I rarely see anywhere. I highly recommend this outfit for anybody, it’s that good.

Really quick, I’m running back the sweater from Old Navy with the leather jacket from Express. I’ve kept the beanie from Stussy and I’ve even brought out some mittens just to drive the point of warmth home.

And with that being said, we’ve concluded the largest post that I believe I’ve written to date! Basic fall/winter style ideas that anyone can pull off! There was a lot to cover this time around. I’m going to have some links to similar items that I believe offer great value down below, so that way you don’t have to worry at all about where to shop. That’s how much I love you guys. Always remember, outfits are built and not bought, so go through your closet to see what you have; if something is too large, then get it tailored. Trust me it’s a lot cheaper than buying entirely new clothes. But if you need a little nudge in the right direction, then I got you. Later peeps. Till we put the pieces together again.
