As a resident of Miami Florida, our winter season has all but come and gone. As weird as this will sound, that truly makes me sad. I love the colder weather seasons. However, unlike us, the rest of the country is still dealing with chilly to flat-out cold climates. I’ve already uploaded a YouTube video in which I cover 6 different outfits that are winter-appropriate, with each tackling a certain level of warmth. In this article, we’re going to close that chapter by going over 4 more winter outfits. This will give us a total of 10 cold weather outfits that you can still implement today. Spring isn’t here just yet, so let’s continue to take advantage.
Outfit #1:
I’m not going to order the winter outfits from lightest to heaviest like in my video; we’re just going to discuss what I put together. First I want to talk about what might be my favorite outfit of the bunch. I recently purchased this pea coat that was on sale from Old Navy, and after a bit of tailoring, I have fallen head over heels.
It’s soft, heavy, and has a nice subtle sheen to its coat (pun intended). Personally, I’m a massive fan of wearing business attire under any form of coat. It has such a refined look that I think has become underrated to a degree. It could be due to the fact that formal suit wear isn’t as prevalent as it once was, but I sincerely believe that it still looks just as good, if not better than it did before. Since my peacoat is black, it’s fairly easy to pair with anything.
I chose the white dress shirt and grey suit pants as the base of the outfit, but I wanted to add a subtle pop of color in order to introduce a bit of a playful side to the look. For this, I chose an olive green four-button turtle neck and I picked the color back up with my olive green cashmere socks from Bombaa. I almost opted for my patent leather loafer sneakers from Marc Nolan, but decided against it and stayed true to the business aesthetic of the outfit. To top everything off, I implemented a white, silver, and black tie and a white and grey scarf. Grab yourself some accessories like leather gloves or sunglasses and you have a look that will keep you very warm for the remainder of winter and the cool days of spring.
Outfit #2:
A leather jacket might be the perfect year-round outerwear piece that one can find. It is definitely a great option for winter outfits. A properly constructed leather jacket, with high-quality materials, should have a heaviness to it, yet shouldn’t come off as overbearing. The liner inside the jacket is perfect because it allows your arms to easily slide in and out, and at the right temperature, can insulate the cold or heat to make the jacket more appropriate for the environment.
A leather jacket can be worn with just a t-shirt, but in this case, I wanted to wear it over a button-down flannel shirt for an added bit of warmth. This outfit is based around earth tones, which in my opinion, is almost impossible to make look bad. The olive green of the shirt ties in with the olive green of the shoes, and I wanted to pick up the green again in the wool socks from the previous outfit. By cuffing the jeans a few times, I’m able to expose the socks and allow all 3 phases of green to shine. The shoes also have brown tones in them, so that’s where the leather jacket comes into play and the brown beanie tops everything off.
With such a multicolored sneaker, I can get playful with my color options and experiment a bit more. After looking back at the photos, I almost get a bit of a neo-soul feeling from the look. Maybe it’s the sunglasses. But nonetheless, I dig the look, I love the earth tones and they are much more forgiving when trying to get creative than other color palettes.
Outfit #3:
So I found myself experimenting a bit with this one. I have fallen back in love with puffer vests and I’ve been incorporating them into many of my recent looks. As I often preach in my content, I really do urge you guys to go through your closet and maximize your wardrobe. What do I mean by this? Find the pieces that you don’t wear that often anymore and discover creative ways to incorporate them into your rotation again.
This is how you get maximum use out of your clothes. So, that’s what I found myself doing with this shawl collar cardigan. I never thought to wear it underneath a puffer vest, but here we are. I thought that it came out really well. The cardigan is nice and fitted throughout the arms, and so it provides a sleek contrast to the aesthetic of the vest. The thick collar will keep you warm and acts as a fantastic mid-piece. If temperatures aren’t too cold, maybe in the 30s and 40s, then I think this outfit will work wonders. For extra neck warmth, throw on a scarf and you can even use it to cover your face during brisk winds.
This look is more on the preppy side, hence the polo, the chinos, and the Aiden boots. I love the way this came together and I hope that you do as well.
Outfit #4:
So as you all are aware of by now. I really try to push the envelope while staying in my realm of comfort; allowing me to prove to the audience and to myself, just how well certain combinations can look. This is one of the boldest looks that I’ve attempted. Now, it’s not the craziest looking outfit; in fact, it looks pretty run of the mill; but how it feels when I wear it, makes me believe that I’m doing the absolute most. I feel as if I have on way more clothing than I do. Even if it was just the white jacket and the vest, I’d feel like I look like I’m wearing a parka. It just has a very bulky feel to it. Am I overreacting? More than likely.
Nonetheless, this outfit looks incredible to me. As you’ve more than likely heard a million times; white isn’t the best option for the cold because it doesn’t retain heat well. To that I say, if you can layer it enough then you’ll be fine. The flannel shirt is made up of a medium to dark blue tone and has some red colors in the pattern which plays really nicely with the red in my Nike Air Bakin’ Boots. Because of this, I wanted to implement my denim vest somehow. It has the “cut off” sleeves that are attached to the shoulder portion of the vest that contains different shades of red.
The white jacket offered a vibrant and unexpected mid-layer that can be used to contrast heavily against everything else that’s involved. I chose to wear my black distressed denim with the blown-out knees to really bring home that punk, grungy look. Lastly, we tie everything together with a somewhat left-field choice in this Bordeaux beanie. I wanted to wear this because the red in the sleeves of the denim vest almost blend to create a red-ish, purple-ish hue, that I think styles well with the color of the beanie. Overall, I wanted to achieve a very flamboyant and rocker kind of look and I think that I succeeded in doing so.
