It’s been a while since I’ve published an article that was solely dedicated to being an outfit look book. Since it’s been so long, I figured that I might as well bring that back.
If you all are subscribed to my YouTube channel, then you’re aware of my unboxing for the Chinatown Market Converse Pro Leather Chicago Bulls Edition (talk about a mouthful). Instead of following up that video with a review of the shoe, I decided to shoot a lookbook around it instead.
I went ahead and put together 3 outfits for this shoe, some are straightforward and others took a little bit of creativity. I hope you guys enjoy these outfits as much as I enjoyed putting them together.
1. Flannel, denim shorts and high socks
This look is all about tying in colors to one another. I’ve been experimenting with tying in colors a lot more lately, as I’ve come to realize that it enables me to get very creative with outfit combinations. Because the Converse Pro Leather Chinatown Market collab is so busy and unique, I’m able to utilize so much more of my wardrobe to create outfits.
What do I mean by this? Well, for instance, the main clothing piece is the red flannel shirt, but I decided to use my white and black t-shirt as a base layer to tie in with the white and black in the shoes. I could have easily gone with a solid white tee or black tee, or I could have worn a busy shirt that contains both colors, but I chose this shirt as it has just enough of a black pop around the collar to make things more interesting.
That’s not even the biggest use of color tying going on here. The flannel shirt is basically a red shirt, but it does have some purple and maroon overtones going on in certain parts. Because of this, I wanted to check out just how well my new Vitaly bracelet (video on that dropping soon) would pair with it, and it works perfectly. Now I have more options for including my new bracelet, because it contains so many different colors, allowing me to tie it in with more pieces than I thought.
2. Bulls Crewneck sweatshirt, black/white beanie
So this look actually worked out in a perfect way. I didn’t own a Chicago Bulls jersey, but I really wanted one to use in this look. I contemplated buying and returning a jersey or even having my friend mail his to me for the shoot. Neither option panned out, but during a trip to my favorite store (Primark) I came across some new NBA stock that they brought in.
The Crewneck was perfect and super soft. I decided to go with a size large for a little bit of an oversized look. I wanted the look to have black/white going on at every point of the outfit, so that’s why I decided to cuff my black jeans to show off my white socks, and why I threw on my black/white beanie. The look was finished off with a black beaded bracelet with a white accent stone and an all-black watch. Very street, yet very clean. I only wish that I had my black earrings at the time.
This is perhaps my most straightforward look, but sometimes that can prove to be the best bet.
3. Denim vest, denim shorts, high black socks.
This one is definitely more on the experimental side. I absolutely love this denim vest from Smuggler’s Moon, and I try to incorporate it into as many outfits as I possibly can. It was an easy option for these shoes because of the large amount of red and red tones that were going on in the vest. Using this as my base layer, I wanted the vest to stand out as much as possible, so I decided against wearing a sleeved shirt underneath.
I instead went with a tank top and paired that with some DIY denim shorts for ultimate breathability. These black socks with the white stripe absolutely scream retro, and since the look itself does harken back to those days, I figured it would be a nice touch to include them. The vest and shoes have a ton going on, but since I was able to keep everything else simple; I was able to prevent the outfit from falling into a mess.
It’s a rugged look that blends retro basketball with punk aesthetics. Not the typical look for most, but I think that it works extremely well. The darker wash tones in the vest pick up well from the dark wash shorts. The red in the vest works perfectly with the red in the shoes. The black/white all tie in properly. Once again I utilize the multi-colored properties of the Vitaly bracelet and it blends perfectly. I’m very pleased with this look.
That’s it, folks. I hope that you all enjoyed the outcome of these outfits as much as I enjoyed putting them together. I can’t wait to create the next bit of content for the site, and I have a lot of great ideas in the works. I’ll leave everyone with a few close-up shots of the shoe down below, and beneath those, you’ll find the links to all of the places on the internet where I reside. Thanks as always for reading.
Till we put the pieces together again.
