What’s up, everyone! In this post, I’m going to begin doing reviews on certain brands and the hauls that I get from them! In this case, it’s going to be my Boohooman Mini Haul. I think it’s a neat little way to give you some insight into the different brands that you can possibly try out, and hopefully, these reviews will help your decision making.
All reviews will be based on experience from actually wearing the clothing and not just based on aesthetics. Today I’m going to cover three separate pieces that I purchased in one transaction. The pieces themselves range from essentials that I needed to something that I wanted to experiment with. Yes, I do practice what I preach. I too branch out and try things that I’m not super comfortable with at first. But enough of that, let’s jump into things.
1. White Dress Shirt
The first piece from the Boohooman Mini Haul that I’m going to cover is this white dress shirt. I’m going to be as honest as I can with this review. Prior to adding the shirt to my cart, I was super skeptical about the quality and construction of it. The reason being is that the last button-up shirt that was purchased from Boohooman left a lot to be desired. But I must admit that I am pleasantly surprised with how it came out. With it being an oxford shirt, it has a thicker feel to the hand. I’m by no means mistaking this for a flannel, but it’s definitely not a super thin formal shirt.
Now came the time to try the shirt on. In the picture below you can see that the fabric in between the 3rd and 4th buttons is flaring outward. This is because of my chest size. Remember that a lot of brands fit differently. So if any of you out there have a wide chest as I do, then this could potentially happen with you as well. You can probably size up in order to avoid this, but it’s a small issue in my opinion.
The construction of the shirt is very solid as well. It’s a slim fit garment, that is tapered throughout the torso and down to the waist. The sleeves are snug in a good way, accentuating a bit of muscle in the arms. I could have done with my sleeves being a bit longer, but it’s not a deal-breaker.
Overall this is a very solid shirt, and for the price, it’s better than I expected it to be. Thumbs up in my book.
Below you can see that I paired the shirt with a black tie and bluish/gray suspenders. Side note, I’m starting to seriously fall in love with suspenders. I think that they are such a classy and underrated accessory that can add just enough flair to an outfit. I match things up with my bluish/gray suit pants and my double monks to complete the look. Easy, clean and dapper.
2. Oversized T-Shirt
I’m going to now go over the oversized graphic t-shirt from the Boohooman Mini Haul. Overall I think the shirt is great, but it’s honestly not what I was expecting. When I think of oversized tees, I’m imagining the more box styled shirts. Longer in the sleeve and a little wider in the torso. These shirts have been rocked better lately and it inspired me to give it a try.
Well, I must say that this shirt truly is just an oversized tee. That’s not to say it’s a bad thing, because that’s what the name displays. Once again, it’s just not what I was expecting. The sleeves are not that long or loose; in fact, they fit pretty well. The torso is super long without bringing that box look that I’ve been interested in. Pretty much it’s as if I sized up to an XL. No kind of alterations was implemented to give it a bit more style. It’s just a big shirt lol.
But I still do like the quality of the fabric and the Pulp Fiction graphic on the front. Like I mentioned before, I am a little bit wary when it comes to Boohooman’s clothing, but this was also a pleasant surprise. I plan to have the tailor take off a bit of the shirt lengthwise to hopefully give me more of that box look that I’m going for. Still, a thumbs up for me, especially for the price.
Really quick, I paired this shirt with a yellow and black flannel, some light wash denim and my black history month high top Air Force Ones. Topped it off (pun intended) with my black leather strap back hat with the gold pins and I’ve got a quick and fresh outfit. I also made sure that everything fit just a tad bit loose to keep with the same theme throughout.
3. Black Polo Shirt
Lastly, I want to cover the piece that I am most excited to talk about. This all-black polo shirt. I’ve needed an all-black polo for years now. I finally have one. My god did it over impress. It is honestly and truly (in my opinion) flawless. Everything about it is perfect for me. It fits snug around the chest and arms, it’s juuuuust loose enough around the torso while still keeping a tapered construction. The collar is nice and broad, (nothing worse than a slim collar, believe you me) the material is stretchy and also soft.
I paid maybe $15 for this polo. I would pay quadruple the price for this same polo. That’s how impressive it is. I don’t know if all Boohooman’s basic polos fit this way; but if they do then sign me up for them all! If you can’t tell by now, I love wearing this thing.
I wanted to show the versatility of the suit pants and double monks, so I swapped out the dress shirt for the polo and threw on a fedora for a little flair. Tucked the polo in and you’ve got casual Fridays in a nutshell. If I had to recommend any one piece from this hall, I think you guys know which one I’d pick.
