Yes, that name is a mouthful, but the value of this shoe justifies the complex title that it was given. The Adidas EQT Support ADV Winter has to be one of the best pickups I’ve made in a long time.
The Adidas EQT Support ADV Winter was an absolute STEAL for me! I made the purchase from the “clearance” section of Flight Club’s website (which I highly recommend that everyone browse if you’re looking for cheap gems) and was able to cop at a price of around $90. As an added bonus, Flight Club is partnered with Afterpay, which allowed me to spread the payment out across four installments of around 22 bucks every paycheck! I know right! Pricewise, I think that this is a more than acceptable option for anyone who is an Adidas fan, is into the whole “sock shoe” thing or anybody that enjoys sick looking sneakers. Now, on to the review!
The Adidas EQT Support ADV Winter is comprised of a one-piece bootie-like upper that makes up about 90 percent of the shoe. There aren’t a lot of different pieces, just one unit that you slip in and slip out of. At first, I was a little skeptical of the quality of the collar, but after about half a year I must say that any potential qualms were quickly laid to rest. The ribbed collar is very thick and soft to the touch. It is in no shape or form a flimsy entrance for your foot. Not only does the collar do a great job of holding up (pun intended), but it’s also functional as the thick construct keeps your ankle snug and warm in the colder temperatures and it has an insulated weatherproof membrane. I guess that’s why they’ve been dubbed as the “winter.”
Due to its sock-like nature, I believe that in order to truly reinforce and stabilize the collar, the pull tab was constructed in a super tight knitted manner which gives it a hard feel. I would say that it feels as if it was coated in some kind of synthetic solution to create that stiff nature. The pull tab then runs all the way down the back of the ankle and is sewn into the entire back of the upper. This ensures that the collar remains upright and stable (in my opinion).
Moving on, the laces have a reflective striped pattern that travels throughout the entire lace. I’m not quite sure if the grey colorway for the sneaker has reflective laces, but I am pretty sure that they do. The upper is constructed of a pretty loose knit, allowing for as much breathability as possible. To ensure that the shoe doesn’t break down after a while, a TPU welded toe overlay was added for reinforcement. The Adidas EQT Support ADV Winter has an EVA midsole, which is similar to foam. This adds to the shoe’s comfort level. The shoe is very light for a piece that’s supposed to hold up to the elements of the season. You would think that it’d feel more like a tank!
The shoe has a leather heel overlay that also acts as an eyelet for the beginning of the collar. It’s a little flimsy in my opinion but not to the point that it flops over like the Air Jordan 1. This is due to the lower and middle portion of the overlay being sewn into the upper itself. Finally, the shoe does run true to size and provides a nice snug hug for your feet. I highly recommend this shoe for its aesthetics, comfort and price. All above average in my opinion.
So there you have it, the first shoe review on the site! If you guys dug this, leave me a comment down below.
