G.H. Bass Wallace Harris Tweed Lookbook

For me, purchasing a new pair of shoes is like purchasing a new car. You want to drive it everywhere and do everything in it (ok, maybe not everything…yet). I’ll honestly look for any reason to slip these bad boys on and step out into the world.

Grocery store? Bingo. Gas station? Why not? Salsa lessons? Don’t tempt me!

And don’t you let me get invited to an event. Ho-boy, I’ll be planning my outfit an entire week in advance! Hell, sometimes I’ll just wear them around the house!

I say all of this to explain just how every new shoe gets placed underneath a proverbial glass dome that reads “Meshach’s favorite shoes.”

Until they aren’t anymore.

But this time…this time I think I legitimately just purchased my favorite shoes ever.

Maybe…

Now, if you’d like my initial thoughts on the G.H. Bass: Wallace Moc, then you can check out my latest YouTube video right here!

But this blog post serves as the bonus, post-game coverage. It’ll feature five outfits that I concocted in this cauldron I call a brain. But not only that. I love these shoes so damn much, that I decided to rent a studio space, crank up the vintage-house music, and partake in my own little Vogue Magazine photo shoot.

I hope that y’all are able to find some inspiration from these looks because a lot of thought went into putting them together. There’s a bit of something for everybody in here.

As always, with anything that I do, I will have the link to the shoe at the end of the blog post.

Enjoy.

Outfit 1

Alrighty then, first outfit up has me taking a smart-casual approach. Golden rule of thumb; if you want to smarten up any outfit (Within reason of course. Don’t go trying to pull off a high IQ look in a hockey jersey and boat shoes) just wear a turtleneck.

And so that’s exactly what I did. But in order to keep things casual, I paired it with my Zara trousers and this woven overshirt from Scotch & Soda. The drawstring in the pants helps soften the serious level, while the shirt is a perfectly chill and casual top. The colors play nicely off one another, with bonus points awarded to my glasses for tying everything together.

This outfit says “I read books, but I never retain what I just read.”

Outfit 2

So I’ve never been an Aviators kind of guy. Not because I don’t like them; that couldn’t be further from the truth; I’ve just never really imagined how I’d look in a pair.

My interest in sunglasses has grown over the past year; checking out different styles and finding what I’m comfortable in. So I decided to use this shoot as a bit of a test run to style a pair of my friend’s Aviators.

I thought that the green Scotch & Soda field jacket added a fighter pilot aesthetic, so that’s what I wanted to build the outfit around. I didn’t want to stick to my usual method of wearing a tank top underneath it, so I decided to layer it over a flannel AND THEN use the tank top as a base layer.

That’s how you spice things up.

Since this jacket features a multitude of accent colors, I decided to play on the yellow with my yellow, button-fly jeans (also from S&S).

It’s almost impossible to mess up with earth tones, so by sticking to that color palette, I was able to put together a really easy and stylish look for outfit number 2.

Outfit 3

Another outfit, another pair of sunglasses. This time in my Clubmaster-styled shades, from Jade Black.

I wanted to build this outfit around my brown leather jacket, so I layered it over this green, buttoned, turtleneck sweater. A turtleneck with a leather jacket is a timeless combo that always gets the job done.

I didn’t want to pair these with light-colored pants, so I opted for some dark-wash jeans. there were already so many dark tones going on, that I didn’t want the harsh contrast of light pants.

I also wanted to do a bit more in terms of detail, so I wore olive-colored socks to match the sweater and added a pop of color with my Nialaya pearl necklace.

It’s all in the details.

Outfit 4

Down to the final two outfits, and arguably my favorite of the bunch.

I. Love. This. Look. So. Much.

First, let’s start with the fact that tan and grey is such an underrated combo. The two create a perfect harmony with one another. The grey suit combined with the tan coat and accents is a true chef’s kiss.

Second, these shoes were made for this suit. The grey tones are damn-near identical, while the brown accents play off the tan very well.

The chunky sole of the GH Bass Wallace Moc makes things just a tad bit casual, while the white patch on the tongue ties into the white of the dress shirt. Oh, and once again, in the most unintentional way; the tortoise-brown color scheme of my glasses acts as a perfect complimentary “accessory” to everything else.

Smart, sophisticated, but not too serious. Pretty much sums me up.

Outfit 5

The most experimental look is also giving the previous one a run for its money as my favorite outfit today. My mindset going into this was to try and incorporate a streetwear aesthetic that works with these shoes. Because let’s be honest; they don’t necessarily scream “street style.”

But I didn’t let that stop me; in fact, they were surprisingly very easy to style in a more street-casual way.

Oversized pieces would need to be the theme here. Now, my coat and pants are not necessarily oversized, but the hoodie added some much-needed bulk to the top, which set the tone for moving forward.

Real quick, as a side note. I just want to take a moment to appreciate the wise words from one of the OG-style influencers, Aaron Marino.

“Outfits are built, not bought.”

Truer words cannot be said for how, once again, these shoes are absolutely matched up perfectly! This coat was practically made for these shoes! The grey-like, houndstooth pattern blends seamlessly between the two. I couldn’t ask for a better combo.

To pick up on the brown accents in the shoe, I decided to throw on this brown, corduroy snapback; adding a bit more of that street flair to the outfit and rounding things out.

Closing

All-in-all, I’m so very pleased with how this shoot turned out, and I cannot wait to do another one like it. I love the GH Bass Wallace Moc and I’ve definitely found something with these studio sessions and you can expect to see plenty more of them in the future.

I’ll have a link to the G.H. Bass website down below, plus you can also check out my unboxing video to get my first impressions, as well as another outfit.

As always, thank you all so much for reading, and until we put the pieces together again…
