Thursday Boot Rogue Review

It’s no secret that I’m a bit of a boot freak, a boot lover, a boot connoisseur. Ok maybe not the latter, but I do carry a fiery admiration for boots. I now own around maybe 7 pairs of boots, and my latest pickup has legitimately challenged for the title of my favorite boot ever.

If you’ve seen my latest YouTube video, then you’ve noticed that I mentioned the Jodhpur boot as being arguably my favorite boot now. Between it and the wingtip boot, I think it carries a perfect blend of elegance and badass. Not only is the jodhpur perhaps my favorite, but this particular pair that I own comes from my favorite boot company, Thursday Boots. I think that they make the best jodhpur boots by far! And so I want to share my thoughts on it. So grab your coffee, sit down, and enjoy my Thursday Boot Rogue Review.

Comfort

10/10. Yes, I truly mean that. These boots are insanely comfortable. I’ll be honest; I did think that the 9 would fit a little odd and maybe look too big because that’s what happened with my Chelseas, but I was wrong. These fit perfectly. They feel perfect. If I have to go into specifics, the boot does come with a full-length Poron Antimicrobial Shock Absorbing Insole. Now I don’t know what that means or what they put into that insole, but dammit does it work. It really works.

These are the most comfortable boots that I own. Who knows, maybe they’ll be one-upped by a new one in the future; but for now, the Rogue reigns supreme. The inside of the boot is also lined with leather, allowing slipping in and out to be a much easier task. I will also say this; the cork-bed midsole does wonders for extended periods of wear. It provides a soft landing for your foot on hard surfaces, and so you never feel as if your feet are crashing into the ground with each step. I like to think of it in the same manner as a shock absorber. It really does prevent fatigue in the foot due to its comfort. 10/10.

Price

The Rogue by Thursday Boots will set you back a cool $200. So far, I think it is worth every penny. I would pay $200 if I were going based on the aesthetics alone. Remember, I have yet to come across a Jodhpur that was crafted like this; and so I would be able to justify a purchase because it looks like one of a kind. I’ve owned $80, $100 and $120 boots. You can immediately feel the difference. I think that $200 is very reasonable, even with high usage. You’re going to pay a bit more for quality products more often than not; that’s just how things work. So if you’re in the market for a high quality boot, please don’t be cheap.

Looks

The bread and butter of this particular pair; the looks do all of the heavy lifting. Sure, the other points made should be taken heavily into consideration, but fashion at its core is about looks, and man does this boot bring it in spades. There are two key factors in the boot’s aesthetic that separate it from the pack; the slope from the middle of your foot, towards the ankle, and the height of the ankle itself. Now, I’ve made it known that I prefer a higher boot as opposed to a more mid-cut boot. I think it looks more interesting, I think it looks sexier and I think it looks, well, more boot like.

The Rogue has the highest cut that I’ve seen amongst any other jodhpur. A lot of the other options tend to sway towards the mid-cut height. The other factor that stands out is the slope, going from the middle of the foot (the tarsal? I dunno) to the ankle. The slope is more of a straight line and doesn’t curve into the front of the ankle that much. I think it creates a look that’s similar to a sloped ramp, but in my opinion, it looks better and it benefits anyone with long feet because we’re not looking at so much foot, as outlined by the construction of the boot.

You’ll see what I mean down below. The Rogue also comes with a heel that sits a bit higher than other jodhpurs that I’ve seen, lending to that higher boot look. The heel also curves a bit at the rear, adding a subtle pop that stands out even more.

This particular pair is made of suede. I don’t think that there is a Rogue pair that does not have an entirely suede upper. I went with the dark olive green colorway because I only own black and brown boots; so it allowed me to try something new. Seeing it in person does not disappoint.

The color is dark, yet rich and vibrant. It’s not a pale green in any sense. Remember when I said that the Jodhpur perfectly blends being elegant and badass? Well, the Rogue takes it a step further by adding an “oil-slicked” look to the toe box by roughing out the material; from smooth suede to a hard gritty texture. They then add a black smudged feature to the same area, creating an effect that makes the boot look like it’s been worn in quite a bit. I personally find this as the Cherry on top. This takes the boot’s greatest strength and adds to it.

Versatility

The only thing in existence that even comes close to this bad boy in versatility is a Swiss Army Knife. These boots can be worn with anything. Jeans? Check. Chinos? Why not? Suit pants? You bet. Shorts?…………ok maybe not shorts but The Rogue works for practically any occasion. If you were going to meet friends at the bar for the game and then immediately went on a date afterwards; you’d still be able to keep these boots on. There isn’t much to say so you’d just have to take my word for it. These boots work for any occasion.

Quality

I love the quality. From the distressed toe to the polished heel; this boot was crafted with fine materials. I did come across rumblings about the strap being flimsy and even fraying with the thread, but I have yet to notice either of that. The strap isn’t stiff in any imagination, but it’s thick and holds up. The suede is soft and the toe feels strong and resistant. The opening at the ankle is stiff, so your foot feels secure as you slip these on. I have no qualms with the quality of the materials, nor the construction of the boot itself.

Another one is in the books folks. Thank you for taking the time to read my Thursday Boot Rogue Review. I’ve you’d like to see my initial reaction to The Rogue, then check out my unboxing video linked right here. I will also link to The Rogue itself, just in case you do want to purchase it.

As always, thank you to everyone who takes a few minutes to read my work. It is greatly appreciated. Until we put the pieces together again peeps. Later.
