As we all know—it’s officially winter season, which means that it’s officially boot season—which means that it’s my favorite season of the year. If you’ve checked out my latest YouTube video (it can be found right here) then you should be aware that Jodhpur boots are my new fave. But what are some ways that you can actually style a Jodhpur boot? Is that what I hear you asking? If so my stylishly curious reader, don’t fret, cause I’ve got you covered.
The plan here today is to show you 7 different outfits featuring the two pairs of Jodhpurs that I own. The original plan was 6, but apparently, Mister Berry over here got carried away and lost count. So 7 it is. I know, I know. I think that I’m very generous as well. But that’s not all—because I plan to release a YouTube video in which I put together 6 totally different outfits from all that you will see in this article. That’s a total of 13 different Jodhpur boot outfits! I know! Eat your heart out Saint Nick. But with all that being said, let’s dive right into my 7 different ways to style Jodhpur boots, shall we?
Bomber jacket, graphic tee and jeans.
Let’s get the simplest look out of the way. Pairing gray and black is hardly the most daring color combination that one can think of. Because of this, the graphic tee becomes very important. With that being said, not all graphic tees are created equal. In fact, a lot of them are frowned upon. More often than not they can be perceived as childish, unstylish, or just plain goofy. I chose this lion’s head t-shirt from Express to pair with the black boots. The yellow tones work well with the brown sole. Combine this with grey skinny denim and a grey bomber jacket for a quick and easy outfit.
Black monochromatic look.
Technically this outfit has fewer working parts than the previous, but a monochrome look isn’t everyone’s cup of tea— even if it’s all black. I personally love the look of buttoning a flannel all the way up. Something about it just adds a hint of refinement to the outfit, in a smart street kind of way. Sticking to the street look, bring in a pair of black distressed denim, a black hat, and black boots to create a moody yet badass look.
Plain tee shirt, cardigan, bucket hat and distressed denim.
At first, I did not think that this look was going to work. I’d never worn a bucket hat, let alone one with a drawstring, with a cardigan. It came out a lot better than I expected. Cardigans scream casual or dapper, but the bucket hat brings a bit of toughness and edge to the party. The green camo in the hat paired nicely with the green Jodhpur boots and the yellow from the shirt was able to tie everything together. It’s a very unexpected look, and this just goes to show you that I’m still trying out new things and pushing the boundaries on what I like. Cardigan, distressed denim, jodhpur, bucket hat. It’s all over the place but in a good way.
Leather jacket, polo, skinny jeans, fedora.
It’s almost impossible to wear a leather jacket and not look like a badass—even with a polo shirt. If you strip away the jacket, you can see a bit of a monochromatic look with the cream shirt, pants, and hat. The black chevron in the polo ties in with the black in the boot. The brown jacket breaks things up but also ties in with the brown in the sole. Everything in this outfit picks up on what another piece is doing, and that’s what makes it so special. Always remember to get creative. Always look for ways to pick up on certain colors in certain pieces. This will make the outfit building process a lot easier.
Checkered button up, denim jacket and a biker cap.
Now we’re really starting to enter the experimental territory. If I felt uneasy about the bucket hat then I really didn’t know what to expect with this one. The only olive in this outfit comes from the boots. The shirt has a lot going on with its color use. There’s mint green, yellow, grey, and infrared, well, red. There honestly might even be more colors in it, but those are the most present. I think the shirt is so busy, that you honestly couldn’t tell that it doesn’t match the boots. But it gives the illusion that it does.
I strategically picked the gray biker hat in order to blur that line even further. If one were to glance at the outfit, they would think that there’s more olive than there actually is. Pieces don’t always have to be so matchy-matchy. The ability to blend colors brings out the utmost creativity in style. Using the wise words of Marcel Floruss, denim can be considered a neutral color. Using that thought process, the denim jacket is what truly brought this outfit together and allowed me to feel comfortable about it.
Grey V-Neck, denim short sleeve button up, white chinos and bone dad hat.
I do not wear short-sleeved button-ups as over-shirts. At least, not that I can remember. It has always been a look that I’ve been drawn to and that I’ve wanted to experiment with. Well, here’s the first attempt at it and I’ve got to admit that I like it. A lot. The hat with the cuffed sleeves gives me a trucker vibe. The cuff adds contrast to the shirt while also accentuating my arms in the most flattering way.
I love the combination of colors. Grey, blue, white, and black isn’t the craziest color selection, but it’s still 4 different colors that I was able to tie in together pretty well. The denim shirt takes it over the top for me. I just feel like such a man in it. If your wardrobe is pretty subdued when it comes to colors, then I definitely think that going with at least 3 different colors will add a lot of interest to your outfits.
Kimono, pocket hoodie, denim and fedora.
Ho-lee bleep. I’m even still shocked that I attempted this. It feels as if that’s the running theme in this post; me feeling like something shouldn’t work and then I’m surprised. If anyone pays attention to what I actually have to say, rather than just looking at the pictures, then you’ll know that my main goal (besides wanting you to dress better) is to help you to maximize your wardrobe. I have to practice what I preach right? I needed ways to wear the kimono that I purchased for my birthday.
Honestly, I didn’t think that it would look that well on its own, or over a tee-shirt; so I decided to treat it as if it were a jacket. So I used it as a layering piece over the hoodie and man do I enjoy looking at this outfit. I feel like a desperado of some sort. If you were to see a pair of pistols protruding from my pockets, then you would think that that makes sense. This look is just badass to me. I love how this turned out. It was the stretchiest of stretches, but hey, it worked. At least in my opinion. That’s why I love fashion and style. Buy different pieces of clothing and get creative. This article alone will tell you how very possible it is that you’ll like something new that you try out.
